Ecco le nomination agli Emmy 2022: Adele, Tony Bennet & Lady Gaga e altre star della musica riconosciute dalla giuria

Adele, Tony Bennett & Lady Gaga e Zendaya sono tra le star della musica che hanno ricevuto una nomination per gli Emmy. Ieri, martedì 12 luglio, sono state infatti annunciate le candidature ai 74° Primetime Emmy Awards.

Zendaya ha ricevuto la sua seconda nomination come attrice protagonista per Euphoria (HBO), dopo aver vinto nella categoria due anni fa. Inoltre, ha ricevuto due nomination per le migliori musiche e testi originali per le canzoni che ha scritto insieme a Labrinth.

Adele: One Night Only (CBS) e One Last Time: An Evening with Tony Bennett & Lady Gaga (sempre CBS) sono entrambi nominati per il miglior speciale di varietà (preregistrato). Adele è stata nominata per la prima volta nella categoria sei anni fa per Adele: Live in New York City. Bennett e Gaga, invece, sono stati nominati sette anni fa per Cheek to Cheek Live!.

Il crooner americano, inoltre, ha vinto nella categoria nel 2007 per Tony Bennett: An American Classic. Il secondo album collaborativo di Bennett e Gaga, Love for Sale, ha già vinto un Grammy in aprile come miglior album pop tradizionale. È l’ultimo album di Tony Bennett in una carriera che dura da oltre 70 anni.

Donald Glover è candidato come miglior attore protagonista in una commedia per Atlanta (FX). Per Glover si tratta della terza nomination nella categoria, in cui ha già vinto una volta. Come Childish Gambino ha raggiunto la vetta della Billboard Hot 100 con This Is America, per la quale ha vinto quattro Grammy.

Selena Gomez è stata esclusa dalla nomination come attrice protagonista per Only Murders in the Building (Hulu), dove è co-protagonista insieme a Steve Martin e Martin Short, entrambi nominati come attori protagonisti per una commedia. Tutte e tre le star sono state nominate anche come produttori esecutivi dello show, che è in lizza per 17 premi, tra cui quello per la miglior serie comica.

Il Pepsi Super Bowl LVI Halftime Show con Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, Mary J. Blige, Eminem, Kendrick Lamar e 50 Cent (CBS) è stato nominato come miglior speciale di varietà (dal vivo). È il terzo anno consecutivo che l’halftime show del Super Bowl viene nominato in questa categoria, dopo le nomination per gli spettacoli con The Weeknd (2021) e Jennifer Lopez/Shakira (2020). Sette precedenti spettacoli dell’intervallo erano stati nominati in questa categoria o in una analoga. Nonostante tutte queste nomination, l’halftime show del Super Bowl non ha ancora vinto un Emmy in questa categoria.

Quest’anno l’evento è in competizione con gli Oscar, i Grammy, uno speciale intitolato Tony Awards Present: Broadway’s Back! e un altro speciale Live in Front of a Studio Audience.

Pam & Tommy, una serie su Pamela Anderson e Tommy Lee, il batterista dei Motley Crue, ha ricevuto 10 nomination, più di qualsiasi altro progetto. Tra le nomination figurano migliore serie autoconclusiva o antologica, migliore attore protagonista per Sebastian Stan nel ruolo di Lee. Stessa nomination anche per Lily James nel ruolo di Anderson, mentre Seth Rogen nel ruolo di Rand Gauthier è in gara come miglior attore non protagonista.

The Beatles: Get Back (Disney+), diretto dal premio Oscar Peter Jackson, è candidato come miglior documentario seriale. Tre precedenti programmi sui Beatles sono stati nominati nelle categorie più importanti.

Controlling Britney Spears (New York Times Presents) è stato nominato per miglior documentario o speciale non fiction.

Le nomination per i late Show e i reality

Late Night with Seth Myers (NBC), appuntamento fisso del late-night dal 2014, ha ricevuto la sua prima nomination come miglior serie di varietà. Jimmy Kimmel Live! (ABC) ha ricevuto la sua 11a nomination nella categoria. Nonostante le nomination, lo show di Kimmel non ha ancora vinto nella categoria. Gli altri nominati sono Last Week Tonight With John Oliver (ottava nomination), The Late Show With Stephen Colbert (sesta) e The Daily Show With Trevor Noah (quinta).

The Voice (NBC) ha ricevuto la sua undicesima nomination consecutiva per miglior reality. È in competizione con un altro show musicale – e non si tratta di American Idol, che non viene nominato nella categoria dal 2011. È invece candidato insieme a Watch Out for the Big Grrrls di Lizzo (Amazon Prime Video).

RuPaul è candidata come miglior conduttrice (serie reality o di competizione) per RuPaul’s Drag Race (VH1). Ha vinto nella categoria per gli ultimi sei anni consecutivi. In totale, ha collezionato 11 Emmy Awards, più di qualsiasi altra persona di colore nella storia della televisione.

Saturday Night Live (NBC) è stato nominato come miglior serie di sketch di varietà. È stata nominata in questa categoria 27 volte.

L’ex presidente Barack Obama è stato nominato al suo primo Emmy come narratore di Our Great National Parks (HBO). Obama ha vinto due Grammy per miglior album di spoken word con The Audacity of Hope: Thoughts on Reclaiming the American Dream e Dreams from My Father.

Succession è stata la serie più nominata di quest’anno con 25 nomination, seguita da Ted Lasso e The White Lotus (20), Hacks e Only Murders in the Building (17) e Euphoria (16).

Bill Hader ha ricevuto quattro nomination. Tre per interpretazione, scrittura e regia in Barry, una per interpretazione in Curb Your Enthusiasm. Come già detto, Zendaya ne ha ricevute tre, per interpretazione, per musica e testi di Euphoria.

Tra gli altri personaggi con più nomination quest’anno figurano Jason Bateman, per interpretazione e regia in Ozark), Quinta Brunson (interpretazione e scrittura in Abbott Elementary). Nicole Byer (conduttrice di Nailed It e scrittura per Nicole Byer: BBW (Big Beautiful Weirdo)), Jerrod Carmichael (performance per Saturday Night Live e scrittura per Jerrod Carmichael: Rothaniel. Julia Garner (Ozark e Inventing Anna), Steve Martin (performance e scrittura per Only Murders in the Building), Amy Poehler (conduttrice di Making It e regia di Lucy and Desi).
